Community members (those not affiliated with Cal State East Bay) can apply for special borrowing privileges from the Library. Approved community borrowers can borrow books from the CSUEB Libraries’ for 21 days.
What Can Community Members Borrow?
- Books from the main collections in the CORE, the former Hayward campus library, and the Concord Center library
What is Unavailable to Community Members?
- Books in Reserves collections (primarily textbooks and other course materials) or Tabletop Games collection
- The ability to request books from other CSUs (CSU+) or non-CSU libraries (ILL/Interlibrary Loan)
- Access to the Libraries’ online databases or other online resources from off-campus
How to Apply for a Free Community Borrower Card
- To apply for a Community Borrower card, please email Jason Chavez, Head of Access Services (jason.chavez@csueastbay.edu), with the following information:
- Name
- Address
- Phone Number
- Public library name and public library card number
- After you apply, you will be notified via email if your application has been approved. You will need to present a photo ID card when you come to check out books.
