The CSUEB Libraries promote student and faculty success by providing comprehensive and convenient access to the scholarly record. The Libraries teach students how to become information literate citizens who will continue to learn throughout their lives. The Libraries serve as a hub of academic support on campus by providing an engaging environment for study and an integrated suite of student services.

Through participation in the Cal State East Bay Information Studies program, members of the University community will be able to:
Apply information literacy as an essential framework for lifelong learning, including academic, personal, professional, and creative development.
Develop a critical understanding of the social, political, and/or economic contexts and power imbalances/dynamics through which information is created, disseminated, accessed, and used.
Use and evaluate the services and expertise provided by libraries and other information systems to support their creative and research practices.
Participate in developing a diverse, equitable and inclusive world by recognizing the value, legitimacy, and interconnectedness of a variety of systems of knowledge, including those based on research and expertise from communities, research institutions, and individual lived experience.
