To help everyone locate a study environment with a noise level that is most conducive to their needs, the CORE building has three noise zones: COLLABORATIVE, QUIET, and SILENT.
Collaborative Zones
In collaborative study areas, please be considerate of others and:
- Use a conversational, indoor voice
- Set your cell phone notifications to silent or vibrate
- Use headphones when listening to audio and video
The following areas are Collaborative Zones:
- First floor of the CORE (all)
- Study rooms + instructional/event spaces (on all floors)
- The Student Center for Academic Achievement (SCAA)
Quiet Zones
In quiet study zones, please be considerate of others and:
- Limit conversations and group discussions
- Set your cell phone notifications to silent or vibrate
- Use headphones when listening to audio and video and set the volume to low
The following areas are Quiet Zones:
- Second floor of CORE (all, except study rooms)
- Third floor of CORE (all, except study rooms and instructional spaces)
- Study cubicles/carrels (individual desks) on the third floor
Silent Zones
In silent zones, please be considerate of others and:
- Remain silent (e.g. set your cell phone to silent, refrain from playing music or engaging in conversation, etc.)
- Refrain from eating or drinking
The following areas are silent zones:
- Meditation/Reflection Room (Room 328-329)
