CORE Building Signage

Signage Policy for the Campus Community

The Cal State East Bay Campus Community is welcomed and encouraged to promote their events, services, and resources within the CORE, via physical and/or digital signage. Please see the following guidelines and procedures for posting signage in the CORE.

Campus Community Definition

The Campus Community consists of current Cal State East Bay students, staff, faculty, and administrators. This includes student organizations and clubs.

Please note: The CORE Signage Team will consider on a case-by-case basis posting of signage by non-campus community entities. For more information and/or to inquire about posting, please contact coresignage@csueastbay.edu.

Physical Signage

Physical Signage Definition

Physical signage includes any flyers, posters, postcards, or other physical promotions or advertisements.

Guidelines for Physical Signage

Physical signage from the Campus Community should:

  • Promote events, resources, and/or services that are sponsored by campus entities (i.e., departments, campus units, student organizations, etc.), or
  • Showcase opportunities for on-campus jobs, internships, volunteer/community-based projects, or
  • Promote collaborations between the campus community and other community organizations, and
  • Support the University’s Shared Strategic Commitments and Student Conduct Guidelines, as applicable
  • Not exceed dimensions of 11 inches x 17 inches
  • Not exceed more than one posted item in each approved posting location

Approved Locations for Physical Signage

Members of the Campus Community can post materials which follow the Physical Signage Guidelines in approved posting locations in the CORE.

Approved Posting Locations:

  • 1st Floor: Below the main stairs (near the entrance facing the union buildings) on the provided white boards and/or tables
  • 3rd Floor: Bridge entrance on provided white board

Please see this map for locations.

Review of Physical Signage

Physical signage will be reviewed periodically by CORE staff for adherence to the Guidelines for Physical Signage and timeliness, and will be removed when necessary.

Addition of Physical Signage to the University Archives

Physical signage posted in the CORE building will be transferred to the University Archives once removed. If you do not want to have your materials included in the University Archives to document campus history or have questions, please contact the University Archivist (archives@csueastbay.edu).

Contact Information

Please contact coresignage@csueastbay.edu with any questions or concerns regarding the posting of physical signage in the CORE.

Digital Signage

Digital Signage Definition

Digital signage is digital content (e.g. promotional slides, images) shown on the wall-mounted monitors in the CORE building.

Guidelines on Acceptable Digital Signage

Digital Signage from the Campus Community should:

  • Promote events, resources, and/or services that are sponsored by campus entities (i.e., departments, campus units, student organizations, etc.), or
  • Showcase opportunities for on-campus jobs, internships, volunteer/community-based projects, or
  • Promote collaborations between the campus community and other community organizations, or
  • Display student work (art, poetry, etc.), and
  • Support the University’s Shared Strategic Commitments and Student Conduct Guidelines, as applicable.

Approved Locations for Digital Signage

Digital Signage can be displayed on the wall-mounted monitors on the first floor near the Information Desk and the third floor near the Bridge. There are three display panels, mounted on the wall side-by-side in each location.

Please see this map for locations.

Technical Information for Digital Displays

Dimensions and Resolution of Monitors

  • Resolution: 3840 x 2160 pixels, 4K
  • Dimensions: 47.62 inches by 26.78 inches, portrait mode

Dimensions and Resolutions for Proposed Digital Signage

All proposed digital signage should:

  • Be in 9:16 aspect ratio
  • Be still images rather than video footage
  • Have a minimum resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels (i.e., 4K)
  • Have a total display size is 47.62 x 26.78 inches in portrait mode

Suggested Design Characteristics for Effective Digital Signage

  • Create vector rather than raster images if you plan on using the promotion in various sizes in addition to the digital display in the CORE building; or design for your largest sized promotion first as it is easier to decrease in size than scale up
  • Text should be at least one inch in height for ease of viewing–the corresponding font size will differ depending on which font you select
  • Use as little text as will get your message across as each promotion/advertisement will only be displayed for a brief period of time

Submission Process

Please submit the following information to coresignage@csueastbay.edu at least one week before the desired posting date:

  • Sponsoring Campus Community Entity (i.e., student organization, department, center, etc.)
  • Name of event/service/resource being promoted
  • Date of event (if applicable)
  • Date you would like the promotion/advertisement to be posted
  • Final promotional image

Approval Process

CORE staff will:

  • Approve or deny submissions within 2 business days (excluding weekends/holidays)
  • Post approved digital signage in the agreed upon locations, on the agreed upon date
  • Remove the digital signage from the digital displays after posting expires

Addition of Digital Signage to the University Archives

A digital copy of the digital signage posted in the CORE building will be transferred to the University Archives after the posting period. If you do not want to have your materials included in the University Archives to document campus history or have questions, please contact the University Archivist (archives@csueastbay.edu).
