Cal State East Bay ScholarWorks Withdrawal Policy

ScholarWorks is intended to provide long-term access to and preservation of works of scholarship and other materials supporting the research and teaching mission of the California State University. In order to preserve the integrity of the scholarly record, Cal State East Bay does not generally support the removal or deletion of publications once posted to CSU ScholarWorks. However, Cal State East Bay reserves the right to withdraw (i.e. remove both the full text and associated record from public view) or suppress (i.e. remove the full text from public view but maintain public visibility of the associated record) items due to special circumstances, including in the case of submission errors and/or rights violations.

The University Libraries reserves the right to withdraw or suppress a publication if it violates the right of a third party, including cases of accusations of libel, invasion of privacy, or plagiarism, or if it otherwise violates the ScholarWorks Deposit Agreement.

As per the Terms of Use, Cal State East Bay does not approve or endorse any posted material or content provided by others, including CSU authors. Materials will not be withdrawn based on users’ disagreement(s) with ideas expressed by the author(s) of a posted work. The University will not remove content from ScholarWorks solely in response to complaints or concerns about the views of the author.

Withdrawal and suppression requests are reviewed by the repository administrator and sent on to the Dean of the Libraries for determination. An appeal to a withdrawal or suppression determination may be escalated to the Committee on Research.
