Tabletop Gaming In Our Library: Dice Games

This page acts as a hub for all things gaming-related in our library

Catan Dice Game

Players: 1-4

Length: 15 min

Difficulty: Moderate

In this compact spinoff of the enduring building game, you still erect settlements, roads, cities, and procure knights but on your own scorecard!

Farkle

Players: 2-8

Length: 30 min

Try to win 10,000 points in one of the most famous dice games!

Note: Since this is a folk game, the tutorial provided may differ from the physical rulebook.

Nada!

Players: 2-4

Length: 10 min

Difficulty: Easy

Roll all the dice and blurt out symbols that are both a white and orange die, and if you're correct, you take all the dice! Then that player rerolls the dice and the same course of action happens, until no matches are found, which prompts a player to shout "Nada." If correct, that player takes the remaining dice. You get one point for each die collected, and the winner is the player with the most points after 3 rounds!

Tenzi

Players: 1-4

Length: 1-5 min

Difficulty: Easy

Be the first to get all of your dice on the same number!

Dragon Slayer

Players: 2-5

Length: 15 min

Difficulty: Easy

Easy to learn, tough to play. Your dice roll dictates what dragon you'll be facing and you have to contend with your opponents too!

Number Please!

Players: 1-99

Length: 15 min

Difficulty: Moderate

Here you have a collection of 7 math games with dice so that this set can be enjoyed by players of all ages and math skill levels! The main game (Number Please) has you roll the 5 colored dice and then with them devise an equation to equal the black die within 60 seconds. Three and Once and Mellow Yellow, 2 of the other games, are variants of the main one. The 4 other games: 38 SpecialHigh Roller, Nine Patch, and Five Square are all very different.

Rolling America

Players: 1-99

Length: 15 min

Difficulty: Moderate

Fill in a US map by rolling the dice and noting the color matchup with both the dice and state. But there are also some tweaks - the clear die is wild and for a maximum of three times you can use a non-clear die for any color. But there's a hitch - Neighbor states can't have numbers with a difference larger than one! If you can't follow this rule, you're stuck with putting an X in a state of the right color. Get the fewest X's to win!

Trap! Nimble Ninjas

Players: 2-4

Length: 30 min

Difficulty: Moderate

Trap different creatures over the course of 5 rounds in this deductive game! Skip the "Final Thoughts" part of the video if you want an unbiased look at the game (it's the only tutorial out there)

Dungeon Roll

Players: 1-4

Length: 15 min

Difficulty: Moderately easy

Earn points by killing monsters, fighting a dragon, and collecting treasure!  You get to pick from a collection of avatars that give you special powers and everyone gets the chance to be Adventurers!

Difficulty: Easy

Match your rolled dice to the corresponding targets on the cards to win the card and by extension points! We have the Deluxe version.

Zombie Dice
