Using the Iron

1. If using steam, please add water before plugging in the iron. 
2. Plug in the iron and select the correct setting for the type of fabric you are ironing. 
   • If you have any questions, please ask the Makerspace Staff. 
3. Iron your fabric. 
4. Remember to keep the iron moving so it does not burn your fabric. 
5. Unplug the iron after use. 
   • If you used water in the iron, please empty it out into the measuring cup, then put it back into the bottle. 
   • This ensures the inside of the iron doesn’t rust
6. Put iron back on metal holder on ironing board; this ensures it doesn’t burn anything or start a fire. 

Using the Sewing Machine

Note: If you have not used a sewing machine before, you will need to complete a short orientation with a Makerspace Staff Member prior to use. 

Sewing Machine may be used for one-hour per day in order to allow multiple makers to use the machine. If there is no one waiting, you may be able to use the sewing machine longer--please ask the Makerspace Staff. 

1. Plug in the sewing machine. 
2. Load your bobbin and thread. 
   • If you have questions, please ask the Makerspace Staff. 
3. Please remove bobbin and place in bobbin storage box after you are done using the sewing machine
4. Please unplug sewing machine after use
