Uses of Indian Ricegrass

Indian Ricegrass, also known by the scientific name, Achnatherum hymenoides, was an important grain for food. Seeds were ground into a meal and baked and cooked to eat (Gauna, n.d.).

Growing Indian Ricegrass

Information on growing Indian Ricegrass can be found on Calscape here. Indian Ricegrass is used for restoration projects and supports caterpillars and butterflies such as the Juba Skipper, Common Ringlet, and White-lined Sphinx.
