INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION: The Cal State East Bay University Libraries seeks a graduate intern (1) from San Jose State University (SJSU) with strong interests around Equity, Access, and Affordability issues in Higher Education for the Fall 2021 semester. Interns will work closely with the Equity and Open Access Librarian and will have the opportunity to co-develop strategies for outreach and engagement in open education. This work may include co-developing outreach and training materials, co-leading trainings and workshops, and/or co-developing assessment tools for initiatives or deliverables created during the internship. Individual responsibilities will be determined based on strengths, previous work experience, and interests.

QUALIFICATIONS: REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE.

  • Bilingual/multilingual, preferably in English and Spanish, but not limited to, English and any of the following languages: Tagalog, Arabic, Hindi, Vietnamese, OR Chinese to create relevant OER outreach and training materials for Cal State East Bay campus community.
  • Previous paid or volunteer office experience and/or experience directly serving the public (i.e. wait-staff, cashier, welcomer at a store).
  • Strong interest in Social Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in Higher Education.
  • Excellent English writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace and Adobe Acrobat Pro DC
  • Ability to work collaboratively in remote settings
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of attention to detail and confidentiality

QUALIFICATIONS: Desirable Skills & Experience.

  • Graphic design skills (Adobe Design Suite, such as InDesign or Photoshop)
  • Public speaking skills

HOURS: To be arranged in conjunction with supervisor Flexible, ideally around 8 hrs per week Most work hours to be completed during the work week (Monday through Friday)

PAID/UNPAID: Currently Unpaid
