Stop by the Library in the next few weeks to see what your fellow students have been doing in CSUEB's Introduction to Bookmaking course offered by the Art Department.
Created by Dr. Michael Henninger, the course focuses on the creation of hand-crafted books whose form - as well as content - express the message of their student authors.
Every year, numerous fascinating - and often stunning - works, jump to life from the imaginations of Henninger's students.
Come by and check them out!

The CSUEB Artists' Books Exhibit is an annual event at the University Library.
Artists' Books are usually hand-crafted volumes that utilize the actual form of the book itself as a work of art. Thus, they function on two levels: that of a book, as well as an artistic expression. These books can be created in virtually any size or shape desired by the artist/bookmaker.
Traditionally, Dr. Michael Henninger - the instructor in CSUEB's ART 1121 Introduction to Bookmaking class - presents us with dozens of unique, quirky, and often beautiful creations from his students - we then photograph them, editing the images into an exhibit poster. Several of the books themselves populate our display cases.
While we are not able to reproduce all the materials from this exhibit, we hope you'll get a sense of what this fabulous art form is all about from the examples included here!
