Since 2002, SSA Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) preparers have helped taxpayers to receive larger tax refunds by claiming the credits they have earned. The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) is provided to working families and single or married individuals. Additionally, families and individuals may be eligible for other credits. Find out if you qualify.
United Way Bay Area partners with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), churches, nonprofits, AARP, and other organizations to scale the free tax preparation effort across the region.
Make sure to have your documents ready: a copy of your last year's federal and and state tax returns, all paperwork needed to fill out your returns for the current year, your spouse's information if you are filing jointly, a photo ID, and your social security number/card.
