Search Strategies and Tips Presentation

Journal Search
Use Journal Search to look to see if the CSUEB Libraries have access to specific journals needed for the Periodical Review assignment.
Google
To find more in-depth information about your journals, you may have to do a Google search to find the homepage for the journal. The homepage will have information like Editorial Board, submission guidelines, etc.

OneSearch
OneSearch allows you to search almost all of our library databases and all of the books that have available. You can use this to search for specific journal articles, to see if we (or other CSU Libraries) have books you may need for your research, or to look for Book Reviews so you know how to format them.

Google Scholar provides search results from a broad variety of sources, such as journals, university websites, etc. This allows for a really broad searches, but may also lead to a lot of inaccessible sources.
ScienceDirect This link opens in a new window
A full text database, which provides access to a variety of science related journals.
New York Times - Account Registration This link opens in a new window
Use this link to register for the New York Times. Once you've signed up, you can login and have full access to https://www.nytimes.com.
Use the NY Times to find newspaper articles related to geography/environmental science research topics.
ProQuest Global Newsstream This link opens in a new window
Enables users to search the most recent global news content, as well as archives which stretch back into the 1980s featuring newspapers, newswires, blogs, and news sites in active full- text format.
Films on Demand This link opens in a new window
Provides full video access to thousands of video titles in Humanities & Social Sciences, Business & Economics, Health & Medicine, Science & Mathematics, and Archival Films & Newsreels, Guidance & Counseling and many TV programs such as NBC News, PBS, BBC and more.
