Extended Hours for Fall 2019

Starting Monday, December 2nd, the first floor of the Hayward Campus Library will be open until Midnight on the following days:

  • Monday, December 2nd – Thursday, December 5th
  • Sunday, December 8th – Wednesday, December 11th

Commons After Hours

Commons After Hours will be open until 2:00am during Fall Extended Hours

Sweets and Study

ASI will be providing free snacks:

  • 9:00pm – 11:00pm, Tuesday, December 3rd
  • 9:00pm – 11:00pm, Wednesday, December 4th
  • 11:00am – 1:00pm, Thursday, December 5th

Fighting Climate Change Using Natural Ecosystems

Refreshments will be served

Certain ecosystems sequester greenhouse gases from the atmosphere, thereby exerting a net cooling effect. I will discuss how we can manage local ecosystems such as rangelands and wetlands to improve these sequestration abilities and fight climate change at both a local and global scale.

Write-in for Novel Writing Month

Join your fellow writers for a write-in as we try to write a novel in the month of November! We're meeting in the Hayward Campus Library's Biella Room from 12:30-3:30 pm. There will be lots of writing in a supportive, fun environment. Light refreshments provided.

Japanese Calligraphy Exhibit at the Library

Please stop by the Hayward Campus Library to see the newly installed exhibit of Japanese calligraphy, created by students in this semester's MLL 251 Intermediate Japanese 1 class. Also on display is an artist's book created by student Leslie Lopez, that showcases origami.

Where: Library Lower Mall, exhibit cases near the Biella Room

INFO 200: Topics in Information Literacy: Sustainability

Spring Semester 2020
Satisfies 3 units of area: "E"
Also fulfills Information Literacy graduation requirement

About the course:
More and more jobs in diverse industries (e.g. public health, management, engineering, social and political sciences) require a basic understanding of sustainability issues!

This 3-unit fully online class provides an overview of sustainability, including its core components: social equity, economics, and the environment.

This class uses a case study approach to understand environmental justice, sustainability practices, and global threats and opportunities in sustainability.
