CSUEB has changed to a semester system, beginning with the Fall 2018 semester. In an effort to best serve students on the semester system, the Student Center for Academic Achievement (SCAA) will be making changes to their services as well. These changes include:

Appointments
     •   One hour appointments instead of weekly standing appointments
     •   Tutoring help when you need it
     •   Schedule up to 48 hours in advance

Open on Fridays
• 10am - 1pm
• Closed the second Friday of every month for tutor training

One-on-One Science Appointments
• One-on-one sessions for Biology, Physics, Chemistry, and Computer Science
• One hour appointments

Scheduled Writing Drop-Ins
• Call or come in to schedule a same-day 30-minute drop-in writing session starting at 10:00am

Tutoring Starts Week #2
• Tutoring starts the second week and continues up until finals
• No tutoring during finals

Hacking the Library

Last weekend, March 1-2, 2025, the Cal State East Bay Library was pleased to host HackHayward in the CORE. The library was the perfect place for 160 young programers from across the state to come together and build with AI.After forming 50 teams, the hackers spread through the library in our study rooms and reading lounges. Fueled by Costco pizza and Red Bull, the teams created new projects over the next 24 hours and competed for prizes.The energy and enthusiasm in the building was exhilarating. The Library congratulates Cal State East Bay students -- Yash Kumars, Ujas Goti, and Nidhi Prajapati -- who organized such a successful event. Student AssistantLibrary Learning Commons (CORE Floor 1)What is your favorite part about the CORE library?My favorite part about the CORE library is being able to help lots of students with a variety of problems. We always try our best to be the last stop for students looking to resolve an issue, and I take pride in the exceptional service we strive for.What do you do throughout the week working in the Learning Commons?My main role is to oversee the loaner laptop re-imaging process and make sure that they are ready to check out to the next student. Additionally, I help troubleshoot issues with printers, WiFi, and computer hardware and software. As a shift leader, it is also my duty to make sure my fellow student assistants are well-equipped with the knowledge they need to provide first-rate support to the students that come through the CORE.Are there not well-known services or facts about the CORE library that you wish more people knew about?I wish more people knew about all the different devices that we check out at the Learning Commons; not many people know that we have speakers, white noise machines, and a Wacom drawing tablet.Do you have a favorite study spot at the library?I really like all of the study rooms around the Library; they always provide a quiet, private space to study or attend zoom classes. Especially those on the third floor because of the gorgeous view of the Bay on a clear day!...
