How are corporate social responsibility initiatives guided by prior relationships with venture capital firms?

Venture capital-backed companies have poorer corporate social responsibility records.

Their average corporate social responsibility records improve in time but this improvement is significantly less for venture capital-backed (versus non-venture capital-backed) companies.

However, when venture capital-backed companies receive funding from younger firms that specialize in socially responsible investing or from university-based venture capital funds, their corporate social responsibility records improve.
