The co-curators of the LatinX Awareness Month Book Display are Lee Adams, Library Faculty, and Mariana Guzzardo, Human Development & Women's Studies Faculty.
The planned events for LatinX Awareness Month recognize the importance and the enduring contributions of LatinX groups to the U.S. We celebrate the many heritages and cultures of Americans with connections to Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. The term “Latinx” includes people of Latin American origin or descent and is used as a gender-neutral alternative to Latino or Latina. Our theme, "Building Dreams, Not Walls," hopes to convey the ideals of human solidarity amidst adversity or oppression, as well as the freedom to pursue our dreams. These dreams demonstrate our resilience and hope for a more inclusive and equitable future.
