Guest Speaker: Michael David Lukas, Of Blessed Memory, Thursday, March 7th

Michael David Lukas, the author of The Oracle of Stamboul and The Last Watchman of Old Cairo, will discuss the interplay between self, family, and history, focusing on how the narratives that we tell about ourselves reverberate into larger communal spaces like family, community, and nation.

The Oracle of Stamboul was a finalist for the California Book Award, the NCIBA Book of the Year Award, and the Harold U. Ribalow Prize. Lukas lives in Oakland and teaches at San Francisco State University.

When: Thursday, March 7, 2019 from 12:15pm – 1:15pm
