Missing Materials & Claims
When Library materials with on the shelf status cannot be located proceed to the Circulation Desk where (if staffing allows) a supervisor or student assistant will accompany you to the Book Stacks for a thorough search. If the book(s) cannot be found, the status will be changed to search to allow a LINK+ request and a hold will be placed to notify the patron by email if the items are located at a later date. Hold items are held at the Circulation Desk for 10 days before they are re-shelved.
If the Circulation staff are unavailable to personally assist you, they will provide you with a search card to fill out to initiate the search process.
Other options for requesting unavailable materials include LINK+ and Interlibrary Loan.
Patrons may also initiate searches for the following reasons:
- fine disputes
- items that were claimed never to have been checked out
- items claimed returned
- misplaced holds
- lost and paid
