Scratching at the Surface – Computer Science Education Week @ Your Library

What did you think of the program you created yesterday? Wasn’t it easy to play around with those blocks and have your character move around?

If that interested you, you should check out Scratch – which was the basis of the short tutorial yesterday. It’s a super visual way to figure out how different elements of code works – not only do you move and connect blocks to create your code, but you also get to see your changes are doing with the Cat! It works fully in the browser, so there’s nothing for you to download. Scratch can be used to make games, animations and other interactive things for the web

Here’s a quick tutorial on how to make your own holiday card in Scratch – more complex than the one below and definitely more satisfying!
