Travel briefly back through 2,000 years of Afghanistan's history the next time you visit the Library!
During the Spring Quarter 2011, you can view artifacts, documents, and illustrative timelines designed to give you an overview of this significant region within the Middle East.
You may come away with a completely new perspective on the high culture of Afghanistan!
The exhibit is free and open to all in the Biella Gallery area, to the right of the Library entrance on the Lower Mall level.
The Heritage of Afghanistan Exhibit was located in the student study area in front of the Biella Room. It comprised a single case, a 36" x 90" free-standing poster, as well as explanatory text mounted on the adjacent wall.
Printed materials and artifacts in the display case were drawn from producer Graham's extensive personal collection of art-related teaching materials.
This cultural exhibit was designed by Lanier Graham, former director of the CSUEB Art Gallery. The occasion of its creation was spurred by the impending visit by a delegation of officials of the Afghan government to the CSUEB campus in Spring Quarter 2011.
Drawing upon his extensive knowledge of a wide variety of cultures and traditions, Graham supplied the images and text that we used for this display.
