Head of Access Services – Administrative Analyst/Specialist Exempt I
The University Libraries are hiring a Head of Access Services.
The Access Services Department circulates library materials including Course Reserves and manages resource sharing with other libraries. The department re-shelves library materials and manages the stacks. Access Services provides photo IDs to students, faculty and staff. The department is responsible for opening and closing the library building and making sure that staffing is available during all library hours. Access Services employees serve as the front desk of the library and the university by answering questions regarding university services throughout the day and night.
The purpose of this position is to provide the leadership, knowledge, coordination, and planning necessary for providing high quality service to library users with a focus on innovation and improvement. The incumbent provides lead work direction, trains, and evaluates Access Services employees and oversees the student assistants. The position assesses department workflows, develops policies and procedures, and engages in long-term planning. The Head of Access Services serves as the liaison between the department and the Library Dean and coordinates the department’s operations with other units in the library, on campus, and across the CSU system to achieve university priorities. The incumbent serves as the library’s expert in configuring and troubleshooting the circulation module of the Integrated Library System (ILS).
